Adrian Monk was one of the foremost detectives in the San Francisco police force -- until his wife died in a car bombing. Almost overnight, he developed severe personality disorders: obsessive counting, phobias of everything from lightning to lactose, uncontrollable tendencies towards neatness. At this point, it's all he can do to even leave his house.
How he'll survive at Milliways, we have no idea.
